About Me

  • Forrest Radarian

I'm Forrest Radarian, and I live at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon where I work as a high school science teacher at the only pre-K-12 public school located in a National Park.  I am passionate about teaching, education, and taking my students into the backcountry.  As an avid bikepacker and backpacker, I’ve completed many multi-day and extended trips across the deserts and mountains of the west. I've built a strong love for the state of Arizona - a topophilia enriched by backcountry adventuring around this state. Current projects include working on building a biking network around the Grand Canyon through Bright Angel Bikepacking, and working on the Grand Rimlands Project - an effort to document and advocate for protection of land around the Canyon.

I’m proud to be an ambassador for Esker Cycles. It’s a brand that both takes cyclists into the backcountry and stands up for public lands.

Bikepacking routes I’ve created and published via Bikepacking Roots include:

    - South Rim - Capes of the Canyon

    - North Rim - Capes of the Canyon

    - El Lobo Lupus

    - Gold to Grand Loop

    - House Rock Wrap

I've made it a personal goal to journal more of my experiences/memories not only for myself but for my family, friends, and anyone else interested in learning about a given route.  This is especially true as time moves forward and the sharp lines of experiences begin to blur; writing then becomes my attempt to maintain those details.
